An item in Hong Kong’s budget. The government will give out HK$5,000 consumption vouchers to those 18 or above.

• Financial Secretary Paul Chan with the announcement. It comes as 2022 GDP was announced at -3.5% on the year.
• Q4 GDP flat q/q and minus 4.4% y/y. Huge shrinkage.

Chan provided forecasts:

• HK economy is expected to grow 3.5%-5.5% in 2023
• Headline inflation projected at 2.5%
• core, underlying, inflation expected at 2.9%
