Economic calendar in Asia Thursday, August 14, 2025 – Australian jobs report (Oz NFP!) | investingLive
The Australian jobs report is due today, Thursday, August 14, 2025.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics monthly jobs report happens in two stages:
- The first release, called Labour Force, Australia, includes the headline figures: employment, unemployment, underemployment, participation, and hours worked. That’s what we get today.
-
The second release, Labour Force, Australia, Detailed, follows about a week later and provides deeper breakdowns (by region, age, industry, and occupation).
The ABS usually releases the Labour Force data on the 3rd Thursday. Today we are getting it on the 2nd Thursday. The explanation is not really an explanation, more of a “deal with it”. Actual release dates—especially for the headline vs. the detailed report—can shift slightly.
For today, another solid report is expected, with a jump in jobs added expected, and a tic lower in the unemployment rate. Yesterday we had wages data showing for the y/y at 3.4%
If employment growth persists strongly too you can forget a cascade of RBA rate cuts, a slow drip feed lower is about the best we can expect.
