Japan trade negotiator says “no comment” on supposed $550 billion US investment | investingLive
- Will continue to demand presidential order to cut US tariffs on Japanese goods soon
- No comment on Lutnick’s comments about $550 billion package of US-bound investment
In case you missed it, Lutnick yesterday said this:
“The Japanese agreement, which we’re going to announce later this week, that’s $550 billion at the hand of Donald Trump.”
Akazawa is expected to make a trip to Washington to formalise the trade framework agreement, one that sees the US putting 15% tariffs on Japan while Tokyo supposedly commits to $550 billion in government-backed loans and guarantees in the US. However, there aren’t any details on the latter and so far there has been a lack of confirmation from Japan as well – as evident by the above.
