What are the main events for today? | investingLive
In the European session, we don’t have anything on the agenda other than a couple of low tier releases like the French business confidence and Spanish balance of trade data. They are never market-moving and they certainly won’t change anything for the ECB.
In the American session, we just have the Canadian retail sales report. Retail sales M/M is expected at 1.0% vs -0.8% prior, while the ex-Autos M/M figure is seen at 1.3% vs -1.2% prior.
The data won’t change anything for the BoC at this point. In fact, despite stronger employment and inflation data, the BoC is still expected to cut at the upcoming meeting and bring the policy rate to the lower bound of their estimated neutral range (2.25%-3.25%).
