more to come

The U.S. Senate voted 50–46 on Thursday to end the national emergency declaration President Trump has used to impose tariffs on Canada, marking the second congressional rebuke of his trade policies in as many days.

  • Lisa Murkowski,
  • and Rand Paul

joined Democrats in supporting the resolution to terminate the emergency.

The move follows a similar vote Wednesday challenging Trump’s tariffs on Brazil, underscoring growing bipartisan resistance to the administration’s use of emergency powers for trade actions.
