Trump says not considering giving Ukraine Tomahawk missiles, could put US troops (Nigeria) | investingLive
U.S. President Donald Trump touched on a wide range of global flashpoints in comments over the weekend, addressing Ukraine, Russia, Venezuela, Nigeria and technology exports, while also confirming he will not attend Supreme Court arguments on his administration’s tariff policies.
On Ukraine, Trump said he is “not really considering” providing Tomahawk missiles, and suggested the conflict may ultimately need to “get fought out,” indicating limited U.S. appetite for deeper involvement. He also commented on Russia, saying, “There is no final straw for Putin,” adding that sometimes the U.S. has to “let Russia-Ukraine get fought out.”
Turning to Venezuela, Trump said he does not “set deadlines” on the country and hinted at undisclosed plans. “We have secret plans for Venezuela — let’s see what happens,” he said, offering no further detail.
Trump also said U.S. forces “could be” deployed to Nigeria, either through troops on the ground or air strikes, though he gave no timeline or operational specifics.
On domestic matters, Trump confirmed he will not attend upcoming Supreme Court arguments related to the administration’s tariff cases, saying he doesn’t want to do anything “to deflect the importance of that decision.”
Shifting to technology and trade, Trump said he meets regularly with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and emphasised that the U.S. does not share Nvidia’s advanced Blackwell AI chips with other countries. “We don’t give Nvidia’s Blackwell chip to other people,” he said, underscoring a continued focus on tech export controls.
